The Emotional Rollercoaster of Motorsport

At times the transition back may take hours. The weekend just passed was one which had its own ups and downs.

The team entered the weekend with all three of its drivers in the top 5 of their tournament, and yet,now leading it. The assurance in the automobile was in an all-time large, and reliability was improving all year. The track, among the quickest in the nation, if favour the back wheel drive BMWs, and the weather was looking great. This ought to be a fantastic weekend.The top driver was carrying maximum ballast as is faked which was not likely to help his chances, but should not cause too much of a problem. He is a talented driver who has had ballast earlier - maybe not a problem.
The rollercoaster reached its apex.

From the time the semester stopped, the automobiles were afflicted by water ingress from the electronic equipment and ended up in the back of the grid for race 1. The rear of the grid, 28th location, with 75kg of ballast in the auto.

Where is the bottom?

After the disappointing third semester, the weather worsened.Something not found regularly in Blightly, but a tornado (yes, even a TORNADO) came via the paddock. This freak weather induced terminal harm to the hospitality awnings and the whole group was outside in the (now returned) torrential rain, angle grinding, cutting, hammering and spannerring to acquire the remains of this awning safe. The whole group, still reeling from qualifying, were now drenched through, not to mentioned the harm done to staff property or to connections with sponsors and VIPs.
Can it be?
The engineers and motorists sat down and spoke with an action plan. What can be done to recoup the weekend? Was everything dropped? Absolutely not! Decisions were made and changes into the automobile were performed late into the evening. Everything flexible has been corrected. Gear ratios were altered. Engine maps were substituted. Like something from a Hollywood blockbuster, the automobile was changed.
When can we go back ?
Hurry one started in glorious sunshine. The group also cars had dried out immediately, however, the long walk to the rear of the grid wasn't something the group often had to perform. The untested car appeared strong on the outlap into the grid, but this isn't ever a true test of functionality.Last tests done, 75kg of all ballast on-board, 28th on the grid. The race began.
Eventually, we go!
Our motorist finished 10th. He composed 18 areas, an amazing outcome and greater than anyone had hoped . The immediately transformation had worked miracles and the rate from the car was rear. 10th also supposed no longer ballast, in addition to beginning in 10th for race . A superb outcome!
Things are looking up!
Race two began with a substantially shorter walk down the grid. No more ballast on-board, and only a couple small tweaks to compensate for the 75kg reduced weight. And you know what? He just went and won it! He drove just like the professional he is and set the car in the front of the package, winning by nearly 3 seconds. Who'd have believed after the gloomy Saturday, that race day could incorporate a success. What is more, another of our drivers was third, so a dual podium. A superb outcome!

All that was left was race three. Ballast rear in the vehicle because of winning race two, along with a reverse grid intended starting down at the center of the bunch. Even the unfavoured hard tyres were required for this particular race. The end result was a good middle of the bunch end. Not dreadful, but not about the scale of achievement of races two and one.
Time to eliminate.
Hence the motorists depart the round with three still at the top 10, two still at the top 5, and you still leading the tournament. A consequence that although anticipated on Friday, seemed to fade off throughout Saturday.
The worth at persevering, not giving up beneath hardship, and trying to win regardless of how the odds are stacked against you cannot be understated. A terrible practice or qualifying session, doesn't need to destroy your race. It does not need to mess up your tournament hopes. It does not even need to mess up your day.
Keep your hands up, your mind in the match and decision in overdrive, and as a staff, fantastic things will happen.
