Family Guy and the Parent Television Council

On February 8, 2015, Family Guy published a episode entitled"Quagmire's Mother" In the event, the sex-addicted reoccurring character, Glen Quagmire, is arrested for having sex with a high school girl. After asserting his mother is the reason he grew up to be a sexual deviant, Quagmire remains sentenced to twenty five years . But, his mother then enters the incident and finds out a way to receive her son acquitted of his fees. While I'm a massive fan of Family Guy, I thought this incident was fair. But, I seemingly loved this incident in contrast to the Parent Television Council.

The Parent Television Council is likely more active in assaulting Family Guy than another significant organization. Family Guy has made their annual list of"worst prime-time displays for family viewing" three occasions and above forty episodes are picked for the Parent Television Council's"Worst TV Show of the Week." They've even gone as far as to establish campaigns for Fox system to cancel Family Guy.
That I am aware that a great deal of individuals despise Family Guy for numerous reasons such as the cut-away gags, the lack of consistency, not to mention the offensive comedy. Many TV-watchers have a distaste for specific shows that are popular. I despise The freshman because I do not buy for a moment that it is reality and that I despise Downton Abbey since I believe it is slow, pretentious, and painfully dull. But if these shows are hot, that am I to say that they must really be off the air? I simply will not see them. In reality, when I had the choice to cancel those displays myself, I would not do it as other men and women like them and they are not forced upon me.Likewise, nobody is forcing the members of the Parent Television Council to see Family Guy. I doubt they enjoy anything relating to it. This usually means they see this series in their own picking, not since there is anything about the display which brings them, but only so that they can whine about it afterwards.
Humor is subjective and different individuals have different senses of humor. As an instance, I didn't locate the film"Elf" the smallest bit humorous despite its universal praise. But I am not going to criticize others for laughing at it start a campaign against the film because it did not match my sense of humor. The Parent Television Council can not appear to comprehend this. They believe that in the event you discover something funny they don't, you are at fault and poor to the elegance of those elite intellectuals. In one of their current posts whining about the incident"Our Idiot Brian," Christopher Gildemiester said"that it was a normal episode of Family Guy - except for its protracted middle part of the episode mocking stupid people - which definitely insulted a lot of Family Guy's biggest supporters." These individuals always whine about Family Guy negatively generalizing particular kinds of individuals, yet they simply outright called Family Guy fans"stupid men and women."
More than anything else, the Parent Television Council complains about Family Guy for indecency, like mocking specific kinds of individuals or bands, violent or sexually explicit material, or even offensive jokes about sensitive topics. Now That would be like when I went to see"Dora the Explorer" and complain that it was too childish and ridiculous. The members of the Parent Television Council are clearly not the target market. Nor are individuals who tend to get offended by shock comedy. This is the sort of series Family Guy is and always was. It is obviously not for everybody, but allow the men and women who enjoy the series watch it. The folks of the Parent Television Council can observe whatever they wish to watch.
Now I would know if they left this type of criticism about a family friendly series. As an Example, in an episode of Spongebob known as"Are You Happy Now?" There's a joke in which Squidward is miserable and brings up a noose stating"perhaps this can help," suggesting that he'll hang himself, just to pull something up instead. This is obviously a suicide joke and obviously it got a great deal of backlash. Watch Spongebob is a kid's series and this type of joke is out of place at a series that is anticipated for a family friendly series. In cases like this, the series is to blame for the material that the kids were subjected to. However, Family Guy was an adult animation. Sure it has gotten raunchier over time, but it wasn't for children to start with. The Parent Television Council frequently cares about children being subjected to Family Guy. I am not a parent so that I can not judge if it's the parent lets their children watch Family Guy or not. However, Family Guy is obviously not a kid's series and whatever the children are vulnerable to is about the parents. That's the system's fault and that problem ought to be taken up together, not the series itself.
They also like to whine about particular messages that they assert the displays gives off. They assert that Family Guy belittles the seriousness of serious problems such as rape, racism, and abuse. But they will need to keep in mind the Family Guy is humor. Not only that, but it is totally absurd with no effort at logic or greed. I am not going to understand that it is fine to treat 1 family member like crap because they take action Family Guy. They are not intentionally telling us that misuse is fine (except possibly using a couple of rare exceptions such as"Seahorse Seashell Party"). I will laugh at suicide or racist jokes while still comprehending the seriousness of these difficulties. I understand some folks can not and that is only a gap in perceptions of humor. I could also laugh at jokes aspects about me. I've Asperger Syndrome and that I was not even a bit offended by Family Guy's many jokes about adultery. If others get confused by this dark comedy, then they could observe more politically appropriate shows. The Parent Television Council should comprehend that simply because a series offends them does not mean it should not exist.
But the tipping point to me to compose this was the post about the episode cited before, Quagmire's Mom. This was simply baffling to me. Family Guy isn't new to creating such jokes. They've made jokes a lot more offensive than that, such as any incident with the personality Herbert, an older man who always attempts to obtain sexual pleasure from young boys. The attention nature of the event, Quagmire, has performed far worse. A number of different episodes have indicated that he's dedicated several forcible rapes and even maintained girls locked up in his home to get his own sexual appetite. In reality, one of my complaints about this incident is that if Quagmire eventually gets important implications for his actions, it is for something which, to tell the truth, was not even really his fault. He had consensual sex with a woman who lied to him she had been a grownup and Quagmire was amazed when she disclosed that she was a little after they had sexual intercourse. I'd say the real life injustice this incident jokes relating to this that individuals may go to prison for twenty five years for having sex with a person they thought was valid. But since this incident included anything that contained the word"rape" that the Parent Television Council is going nuts about it. This incident is not even that insensitive concerning the problem in comparison to other episodes. In reality, it really requires the problem rather seriously for a Family Guy episode.
The Parent Television Council, to me, represents the worst of all modern-day censorship. If folks wish to openly rant about how much they hate Family Guy, that is their freedom of speech. On the other hand, the Parent Television Council are actively attempting to take the show down since they do not like it. Folks ought to be able to enjoy the amusement they favor, but nobody can let you know exactly what to enjoy. It's possible to despise Family Guy whatever you need, but the ideal approach to manage this is to just prevent it.
